Strategic planning workshops
MICH has provided many strategic planning workshops around the state of Missouri for local health departments. Using NACCHO’s “Developing a Local Health Department Strategic Plan: A How-to Guide, MICH will facilitate your process starting with a workshop for your governing body and staff.
Technical Assistance throughout the strategic planning process
MICH can provide technical assistance to your health department throughout the strategic planning process. We will facilitate the meetings to develop your mission, vision and values, and compile and analyze the results of an environmental scan to assist your agency in selecting strategic priorities. MICH will work with your agency to make sure that goals and objectives are measurable and contain time-framed targets. The strategic planning discussion will include agency capacity for and enhancement of information management, workforce development, internal and external communication, and financial sustainability. MICH will provide technical assistance through email, phone calls, webinars, and/or on-site visits.
Development of the Strategic Plan
At the end of the planning process, MICH will draft a comprehensive plan that will include a summary or overview of the strategic planning process, the mission, vision, and guiding principles/values, strategic priorities, goals and objectives. We will address your capacity for and enhancement of information management, workforce development, communication, marketing, and financial sustainability. External trends, events, or other factors that may impact community health or your agency will be included along with an analysis of your department’s strengths and challenges, and the linkages to your department’s health improvement and the quality improvement plans.
